The Fine Arts are important at Grace Christian Academy and we are committed to giving our students a well-rounded comprehensive experience. God has given students many different talents and abilities. It is our desire to educate, inspire, and equip students to use their talents in ways that honor and glorify God.
General Music
Movement to the beat is a critical element in a student’s musical development, and we start with Kindergarten and continue throughout the child’s musical experience at GCA. Students learn folk dances from Israel, Scandinavia, Ireland, Germany, Russia, and of course the United States, as well as other kinds of movements teaching beat awareness and coordination.
Band and Choir
Starting in the 5th Grade, our students get to choose between band or choir. Choral students will study music and the performing arts through singing. Students will learn how to utilize their voices in a healthy manner, learn music theory and experience various genres of music. Biblical foundations for singing and participation in music will also be discussed.
Band students will learn performance skills on their instruments, as well as music theory. Band instruments include flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, trumpet, French horn, baritone, trombone, tuba, and percussion. We play our instruments as an expression of our praise, giving thanks to God for the gift of music and the talents He has given all of us.
Drama
Encore, a musical theater group for Kindergarten through 8th grade. The group’s primary focus is to build student confidence through the joy of performing. Encore rehearses Wednesday after school and performs two musicals per year.
